Since its inception in 2020, Yield Guild Games has quietly built the most powerful ecosystem in the Web3 gaming world over five years. This decentralized organization has done something really cool: it has made expensive game NFTs—virtual land, rare equipment, powerful characters—public, allowing ordinary players to participate in earning money from games at no cost.

At the core is the YGG token, which serves as both a governance tool and a certificate of earnings. Even better, the entire design is as flexible as LEGO blocks, with guild development plans responsible for expansion, and an on-chain reputation system recording contributions, creating a positive cycle that grows stronger with participation.

The smartest thing about YGG is that it does not create a closed ecosystem. It did not build its own exchange but directly integrated its tokens into the economic bloodlines of major game chains. For example, launching the YGG trading pair on the Katana exchange on the Ronin chain and using it to generate liquidity is much more clever than building an exchange from scratch.

The deployment of the 50 million token fund pool approved by the DAO vote in August this year was a stroke of genius. This money has been precisely invested in quality DeFi protocols to earn interest, stabilizing token prices and supporting the staking system, essentially earning returns using other people's infrastructure.

Currently, YGG is more like an incubator in the gaming industry. The Launchpad launched at the end of the year specifically helps new games issue tokens and build communities. Although it doesn't directly serve as a trading platform, it has nourished the entire ecosystem by filtering quality projects.

In the community, there are always people fantasizing about YGG establishing its own exchange, but founder Gabby remains clear-headed: the core of the guild is managing assets and gathering popularity. Starting an exchange deviates from the main business; it's better to deepen existing advantages.

My friend Leo and I have been dealing with YGG since the Axie era. As ordinary players, our deepest experience is that it truly lowered the entry barrier to rock-bottom prices. We initially entered through the scholarship program at zero cost and swapped for YGG tokens after earning our first bucket of gold. Although bridging tokens across chains can be quite troublesome, holding the tokens became an ecosystem passport — allowing us to participate in voting, follow project progress, and feel like we truly became part of the ecosystem.

For ordinary players, whether to trade or not is not important; the key is to continuously provide opportunities to make money. YGG's greatest strength is organizing scattered players into a regular army, turning gaming for profit from a side hustle into a legitimate career. As long as this core remains unchanged, ecosystem expansion is just a matter of time.
