In Odessa, the suspected killers of the son of Kharkiv's deputy mayor were detained.

The suspected killers of 21-year-old Danila Kuzmin, son of Kharkiv's deputy mayor Sergey Kuzmin, were detained in Odessa.

According to the press service of the Kyiv district court of the city, today a temporary arrest for a period of 40 days was applied to the two men.

The crime was committed in Austria (in the Viennese district of Donaustadt) on November 25, and now Ukrainian authorities are waiting for an official request for the extradition of the suspects from the federal authorities.

According to the Vienna State Criminal Police, the alleged murderers are 19 and 45 years old. The investigation believes that on November 25, they forcibly dragged Danila into a 'Mercedes' and for four hours tortured him, forcing him to transfer a significant sum from his cryptocurrency wallet to another person's account. After that, the criminals doused their victim with gasoline and burned him along with the car.

The body that law enforcement found in the back seat of the car was burned by 80%. Forensic experts also established that Danila had broken teeth and closed head trauma. Since there were no soot particles in the young man's lungs, specialists believe that he died either before the burning or at the very beginning of the fire.

Austrian police were able to track down the suspects thanks to the testimony of a witness to the scuffle in the underground garage of the hotel and recordings from surveillance cameras. In addition, they almost immediately ruled out a political motive for the murder.

The younger of the men studied with Kuzmin at the same university. It has been established that he purchased two canisters of gasoline, which were used to burn the body of the unfortunate.

The suspects arrived in Ukraine on November 26. They were detained by the police special forces 'KORD' — according to the publication 'Sлідство Інфо', this happened on the 29th.

It should be noted that information about the search for the missing Danila Kuzmin appeared in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine's search database only today.

The father of the murdered Sergey Kuzmin is responsible for digitalization in the Kharkiv city administration.
