ZachXBT: British hacker Danny is suspected to have been arrested, with $18.58 million in crypto assets confiscated
On December 5, news broke that on-chain detective ZachXBT disclosed in his personal channel that British hacker Danny/Meech (also known as Danish Zulfiqar/Khan) is suspected to have been arrested by law enforcement agencies, and his crypto assets have been confiscated.
He had previously been tracked and identified, and he is suspected of being involved in the theft of $243 million in crypto assets from Genesis creditors that occurred in August 2024, with individuals involved including Malone, Veer, Chen, and Jeandiel.
Danny was also involved in the Kroll SIM card swap attack in August 2023, which leaked personal information of BlockFi, Genesis, and FTX creditors, leading to targeted social engineering scams that have caused losses exceeding $300 million.
A few hours ago, multiple addresses associated with ZachXBT that had been tracked merged and transferred $18.58 million in crypto assets to an address starting with 0xb37d, and the pattern is similar to past law enforcement asset confiscation actions.
