Welcome to the OpenSea news roundup, let’s recap the most significant NFT and web3 happenings this week.

Tyler Hobbs' (Fidenza) fifth anniversary

Generative artist Tyler Hobbs' influential collection of 999 digital artworks (Fidenza) celebrated its 5th anniversary on June 11.

Last fall, Hobbs told OpenSea that the reaction from collectors when he launched this series five years ago was "beyond my wildest dreams," and he noted that appreciation for the series has only grown since its debut on Art Blocks in 2021.

This series is widely regarded as instrumental in defining long-form generative art – a style that uses a single coding algorithm to generate hundreds of stunning and stylistically diverse pieces – and it has established itself as a legitimate collectible category. Hobbs created (Fidenza) using randomness and his signature "flow field" (curved paths that guide shapes across the canvas).

Sandbox launched an AI-driven game engine, Studio, and opened applications for Alpha testing.

Sandbox's virtual world platform introduced Sandbox Studio, an AI game engine capable of turning text prompts into playable multiplayer games in just hours. The Alpha test version is now open for applications.

According to the announcement, Studio is trained on data from over 400 studios and millions of players, allowing completed games to be released on Telegram, Steam, mobile app stores, and YouTube from a single version.

A full launch is planned for Q4 2026.

Justin Aversano's three-year global film project has landed in New York.

Artist Justin Aversano held an exhibition titled 'Unknown Moments' at Nguyen Wahed Digital Art Gallery in New York on June 10, running until July 11.

At the core of the exhibition is a film that Aversano shot over 366 days using Super 8 film — a retro film format known for its grain and texture. Each 10-second clip is associated with a specific date and was sold as NFTs through daily auctions during his travels.

This exhibition is curated by Marlene Corbun, a resident art curator in Paris, and includes film stills printed on handmade flower paper, as well as a generative piece titled 'Clone #258' in collaboration with digital artist Kim Asendoff.

Bryan Brinkman released three new works following the NFC Lisbon conference.

Animator and digital artist Bryan Brinkman released three new pieces this week.

The limited edition Azulejo Galo series, with only 250 pieces, was launched at the NFC Lisbon conference, accompanied by an offline experience event. The limited edition Simpler Times, with only 69 pieces, was released in collaboration with artist M0dest as part of the No Notice series.

The third collection (The Works) was released to holders of his BrinkWorks sponsorship pass, allowing collectors to purchase this membership and obtain quarterly works directly from the artist.

Brinkman was a graphic artist for The Tonight Show before becoming a full-time NFT creator. Last year, he discussed with OpenSea his long-term approach to building a portfolio in the digital art space.

Collector Adam Weitsman added Pudgy Penguin #6873 and 805 Meebits to his NFT collection.

Notable NFT collector Adam Weitsman purchased Pudgy Penguin #6873 on June 8, which is a 1/1 left-facing NFT. Pudgy Penguins is a collection of 8,888 cartoon penguin NFTs built on the Ethereum blockchain, created by CEO Luca Netz as a consumer brand.

Weitsman also facilitated bulk purchases through MeebCo, acquiring the 805 Meebits series created by Larva Labs, which features 20,000 3D digital sculptures. MeebCo is the company behind this series, and Weitsman told OpenSea last year that he only buys what he genuinely wants to collect, never considering flipping.

XCOPY and Lewis Osborne teamed up to launch a limited edition NFT 'Mission Creep' with only 250 pieces.

Crypto art veterans XCOPY and Lewis Osborne released a limited edition of 250 NFTs titled 'Mission Creep' on June 9.

This artwork depicts two cartoon characters using smartphones, flanked by surveillance cameras and simulated control panels, with a dark map pattern in the background and a shadowy object looming above, glitching in XCOPY's iconic style.
