French President Emmanuel Macron, in an interview with Les Echos newspaper, regarding the trade deficit between the European Union and China:
"I told them [the Chinese] that if they do not respond, we Europeans will be forced over the coming months to take a strong stance like the United States, such as imposing tariffs on goods imported from China."
