UXLINK Asset Theft Exposed: External Hackers, Project Team Responds Proactively

UXLINK CEO Rolland Saf recently released a security incident review report, clarifying the widely publicized asset theft incident. It turns out, the attack wasn't orchestrated by an internal team member.

The attackers were cunning, posing as business partners and using deepfake video conferencing techniques to quickly compromise the devices of many holders of SAFE authorization keys. This breach was devastating; passwords and private keys were stolen, and the hackers gained control of the older version of the ARB-UXLINK smart contract. With this control, the hackers illegally issued new tokens, transferred assets, and sold them off. The total loss exceeded $11 million, a staggering figure.

This incident coincided with Korea Blockchain Week, but the UXLINK team reacted quickly, immediately reporting the situation to exchanges, security agencies, and law enforcement agencies in multiple countries, ultimately confirming that the attack originated externally. Rolland Saf stated that the hackers stole assets including USDT, ETH, and BTC, but fortunately, some assets were recovered with the help of exchanges.

Previously, some speculated that the project team had "run away with the money," but this report directly refutes that. UXLINK has real revenue and a large global user base, and the entire incident was conducted transparently. The team has also worked diligently, rebuilding the contracts and restoring the 479 million affected circulating tokens at a 1:1 ratio, and even unlocking 12% of the tokens ahead of schedule to compensate exchange users.

Currently, law enforcement agencies in multiple countries are investigating, and the relevant addresses are being monitored. UXLINK has also stated that it will continue to strengthen its security system and promote the development of AI growth and the FujiPay payment ecosystem. They emphasized that the project's long-term prospects are stable and it is still in a high-growth phase. Hopefully, UXLINK will learn from this experience and avoid similar problems in the future, and we look forward to their continued success!
