On December 5th, a true Taiwanese person posted images on social media with the caption: A real Taiwanese person will not kneel before Japan! Unless it’s a Japanese mixed person. Taiwan is now divided into three types of people: first, the indigenous people; second, the descendants of mainlanders brought over by Chiang Kai-shek; and third, the Japanese mixed people who were formed during the Japanese occupation. The third type of people take pride in adopting Japanese names and learning Japanese culture, even directly acknowledging themselves as Japanese and considering Japan their homeland. The first two types of people will never forget that Japan once massacred four to five hundred thousand Taiwanese and over thirty-five million Chinese.
