According to co-founder Vitalik Buterin, the temporary inability to finalize transactions does not pose any serious threat to Ethereum's cybersecurity, after he addressed concerns following a recent bug on the Prysm client. The blockchain continued to operate normally during the transaction finalization delay, with the important priority being to avoid finalizing inaccurate blocks rather than preventing irregular confirmation delays.

Buterin explained that the finalization signal indicates a highly reliable network that a block will not be reversed. He stated in a post on X responding to the Prysm incident that delays lasting hours due to serious bugs are still acceptable as long as the blockchain processes transactions without finalizing misleading information.
