Happiness was wandering in the forest, rejoicing in the sunlight and the singing of birds, when it suddenly fell into a deep pit. It sits there, crying. A man walks by, hears the cry:

– Kind man! Get me out of here!

– What will you give me for that? – he asks.

– What do you want? – Happiness clarified.

– A big house with a sea view! – the man replied. Happiness gave him the house, he was delighted, ran away, and forgot about Happiness. It sits there, crying even louder.

A second man walks by. Happiness cries out again:

– Get me out!

– What will you give? – the man asks.

– How many cars do you want, all brands! – Happiness promised. The man got the cars, happily left, forgetting about Happiness. Hope was nearly dead.

A third man is walking by. Happiness calls out again:

– Help!

The man carefully pulls Happiness out of the pit and goes on his way.

– What do you want for that? – Happiness asks.

– Nothing, – the man replies.

Happiness ran after him, never falling behind.

Moral: Happiness loves those who do not trade it, otherwise it remains in the pit and watches as everyone runs after promised houses and cars.
