Chairman of the LDPR Leonid Slutsky called for the legalization and reasonable regulation of cryptocurrencies in Russia. His statement was made at the All-Russian Gathering of Regional Management Teams of the LDPR in December 2025, emphasizing the importance of starting a dialogue about digital assets.

Not speculation, but sovereignty

Slutsky noted that the issue of legalizing cryptocurrencies concerns not speculative operations, but the technological and financial sovereignty of the country. In his opinion, this is also a matter of new opportunities for Russian entrepreneurship, especially for youth and the IT sector.

"Digital assets are already fully utilized around the world, and it is important for Russia to learn to manage them rather than block their development," emphasized the leader of the LDPR. He believes it is necessary to provide citizens with modern tools for economic growth instead of restrictions under formal pretexts.

As of December 2025, cryptocurrencies in Russia remain property but are not recognized as a means of payment. Citizens can buy, store, and sell digital assets; however, using them for payments within the country is prohibited.
