Bhutan officially enters the era of stablecoins linked to physical reserves with the launch of TER, the first sovereign digital token supported by physical gold and based on Solana.
The initiative, debuting on December 17, represents a historic step for the small Himalayan kingdom, which has long been interested in integrating blockchain and natural resources into its economic model.
TER will be entirely backed by national gold reserves, ensuring transparency, stability, and real value.
The goal is twofold: to strengthen monetary sovereignty and attract investments in a more sustainable digital economy.
The choice of Solana stems from the need for speed, energy efficiency, and low transaction costs, crucial elements for state infrastructure.
