Accenture's "China Consumer Insights" this year compared data from 2021 and 2025, finding that people's attention to career has decreased from 61% to 53%; attention to love has decreased from 17% to 9%; attention to friendship has decreased from 6% to 4%; and attention to personal growth has decreased from 13% to 7%.
In recent years, the priorities and consumption concepts of Chinese consumers have undergone profound changes, with a core characteristic being a significant increase in attention to factors related to personal security, such as health and wealth, while the emphasis on external pursuits like career and love has relatively decreased, leading to more rational and pragmatic consumer behavior.
