NEWS UPDATE: South Korean cryptocurrency entrepreneur Do Kwon was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday in New York after pleading guilty to fraud tied to the collapse of his digital currency empire, a failure that wiped out about $40 billion in investor funds and rattled global crypto markets.

Kwon, captured after an international manhunt across Asia and Europe, had overseen the two cryptocurrencies at the center of the bankruptcy.
