ChainCatcher message, Carl Rinsch, who directed the 2013 film "47 Ronin" starring Keanu Reeves, has been convicted of telecommunications fraud and money laundering. The prosecution accused Rinsch of misappropriating 11 million dollars received from Netflix and using part of the funds to purchase cryptocurrency.
An earlier report stated that Carl Rinsch used 4 million dollars of that to invest in Dogecoin, ultimately making a profit of 27 million dollars, but then squandered most of the profits on luxury goods. Rinsch faces a maximum sentence of 90 years and will be formally sentenced on April 17, 2026.
