The new DCI unit intends to track and analyze transaction chains on the blockchain, identifying suspicious transfers through anonymous wallets and decentralized platforms. Furthermore, the special department has been tasked with investigating instances of money laundering through digital assets, financing terrorism, and other cybercrimes, including the collection of digital traces from devices and networks for submission to court.
Kuragu noted a significant increase in the scale of crypto fraud as a consequence of criminal groups in Kenya actively mastering the online space to conceal traces of crimes. According to DCI, the total losses from such cybercrimes in Kenya alone this year have exceeded $232 million.#Write2Earn
