Europe on the brink of "war with robots": Europol report on the year 2035
Key Facts
• Europol's report "The Unmanned Future(s)" describes a dystopian scenario: by 2035, robots will become part of everyday life in Europe — delivering packages, cleaning, working in stores.
• "Unemployed from poor areas" will take to the streets in protests, expressing anger through "bot bashing." This could lead to a "war between humans and robots."
• The police will have "freeze guns for robots" and "nano-nets" against terrorist drones.
Why is this realistic?
• Automation will take millions of jobs in the service sector.
• Cybercriminals will hack robots for espionage or crimes.
• Wars (like in Ukraine) accelerate the development of drones for terrorism.
Experts (Locus Robotics) call the scenario "unrealistic" due to tech and regulatory barriers. Europol clarifies: these are "probable scenarios" for preparation, not prophecy.
