Bubblemaps Criticizes Soulja Boy's Apology, Highlights Repeated Misconduct in Crypto Advertising
Rapper Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, faces scrutiny again over his past participation in crypto and NFT promotions, this time from the on-chain analytics platform, Bubblemaps. The rapper recently apologized on Twitter for promoting fraudulent crypto schemes without fully understanding them and vowed to learn from his mistakes. However, Bubblemaps dismissed his apology, citing a repeated pattern where he promoted scam tokens, disappeared, and resurfaced years later to repeat the cycle. The platform also revealed that Soulja Boy had blocked them on social media after this exposure. This controversy follows a 2023 report by crypto investigator ZachXBT, who found the rapper was linked to 73 crypto and 16 NFT scams, earning over $730,000. Critics argue that this repeated pattern damages trust in the crypto ecosystem, and Soulja Boy faced a lawsuit in 2022 over similar deceptive promotions.
