Kevin Hassett, director of the White House's National Economic Council and one of the Trump administration's top economic advisors, said in an interview with CNBC on December 10, 2025, and again on December 16, that there is ample room for interest rate cuts in the US economy.
Hassett believes that the US Federal Reserve should be cutting interest rates now. He even indicated that if he were in the shoes of current Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, he would cut interest rates now.
