CoinDesk reports that on December 21, Ethereum core developers are advancing a significant protocol upgrade named 'Glamsterdam,' scheduled to go live in 2026, focusing on addressing the current network's maximum extractable value (MEV) fairness issues. One of the leading proposals for this upgrade is EIP-7732: Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (ePBS), which aims to enhance censorship resistance and fairness in the block production process by formally introducing the division of Proposer and Builder roles at the protocol level, thereby reducing reliance on centralized relays and external MEV infrastructure. Another key proposal that complements this is EIP-7928: Block-level Access Lists, which allows blocks to pre-declare which accounts and contract data will be accessed, helping nodes preload and reuse data more efficiently, making block execution faster and more predictable, while also laying the groundwork for future scalability. The complete EIP list for Glamsterdam is still being finalized.
