$Precious metals collectively soared to a historical high, with a solid long-term upward logic
On December 22 at 13:30, international precious metal prices surged across the board. COMEX gold broke through $4430/ounce, reaching a maximum of $4437.3, with a maximum intraday increase of 1.14%; London spot gold stood at the $4400 mark, peaking at $4405.78, an increase of 1.55%, both setting new historical records.
Silver and platinum rose simultaneously. COMEX silver reached a maximum of $69.525/ounce, an increase of 3.02%; London spot silver peaked at $69.45, with an increase of 3.58%. NYMEX platinum and spot platinum both surpassed $2000, with intraday increases of over 4%.
Driven by international trends, domestic gold jewelry prices have also climbed to new highs for the year. Chow Tai Fook and Chow Sang Sang's 24K gold jewelry adjusted to 1368 yuan/gram, while Chow Sang Sang and Lao Miao gold adjusted to 1367 yuan/gram.
Zhao Lian's chief researcher Dong Ximiao pointed out that the surge in gold prices is the result of a significant increase in safe-haven demand and rising expectations for interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, with long-term structural factors also providing solid support. In the short term, geopolitical tensions are raising safe-haven sentiment, combined with strengthened expectations for interest rate cuts in 2026, while a weakening dollar and U.S. Treasury yields enhance gold's appeal; in the long term, continuous gold purchases by global central banks create a stable demand "ballast."
Since the beginning of this year, gold has accumulated an increase of about 60%. Dong Ximiao believes that the logic for gold's long-term rise remains unchanged, with three major factors continuing to support gold prices: the continuation of monetary easing trends, sustained enthusiasm for central bank gold purchases, and ongoing global uncertainties. He also reminds investors to rationally allocate based on their own experience, abilities, and risk preferences, and not to blindly follow trends. $BTC #比特币与黄金战争
