If anyone still lived under the illusion that European fintechs are 'above politics and laws', I have bad news.
❌ Revolut has started to massively close the accounts of Ukrainians.
The reason is the requirements of legislation and regulatory pressure.
Formally - without emotions. In fact - another 'convenient gateway' for Ukrainians into the global financial system.
🔥 What is happening specifically
Users from Ukraine are being informed:
that they have ⏳ 60 days to:
withdraw funds;
close positions;
❌ after this:
the account will be closed;
top-ups are prohibited;
card payments are blocked;
cash withdrawals are impossible.
⚠️ All positions in cryptocurrency and metals must be SOLD before the account closure date. That is, not 'transfer', not 'wait', but fix.
🤔 Why is this happening really
Officially — 'legislative requirements'. Unofficially — but obviously:
compliance;
sanction risks;
AML / KYC;
unwillingness to work with jurisdictions without a clear legal regime.

This is not an 'attack on Ukrainians'.
This is the cold logic of regulations.
🧠 Why this is VERY important for crypto enthusiasts
We have written dozens of times:
banks ≠ friends;
fintech ≠ freedom;
"convenient app" ≠ guarantee of access to funds.
Revolut is neither the first nor the last.

another fintech,
another payment system.
👉 If you do not control the keys — you do not control the assets.

Cryptocurrency is often perceived as a path to financial freedom.
But freedom is responsibility, not 'convenient until blocked'.
❗ Storing crypto in a bank or fintech app = trusting a third party.
And the third party always plays by the regulator's rules, not yours.
🧭 What to do right now
No panic, but with a cool head:
✅ Check all your accounts in fintechs.
✅ Do not hold long-term assets where you do not own the keys.
✅ Divide:
infrastructure (banks, cards);
storage (self-custody).
❌ Do not believe in 'this won't affect us'.

Revolut simply did what a regulated financial institution always does — chose a safe model for itself.
Now it's time for you and me to choose a safe model for ourselves.
