Once, young Actaeon was hunting with friends in the forests of Kieferon. On a hot noon, exhausted by the heat, he separated from his companions and descended into the cool valley of Gargafia — a quiet, blooming place with a murmuring stream and lush greenery. There, in a shady grotto, he inadvertently disturbed the tranquility of the goddess Artemis, who was preparing for a bath. The frightened nymphs screamed, and the goddess's face flushed with anger: the mortal had seen what was forbidden to him.

In an instant, Artemis transformed Actaeon into a slender deer. His human form vanished, speech disappeared, but his mind remained. In horror, he began to flee, saw his reflection in the water — and could not even scream in despair. The dogs he had raised and trained caught the scent of the beast and rushed in pursuit. They did not recognize their master. Through valleys and gorges ran deer-Actaeon until the dogs caught up with him. He wanted to plead for mercy, but only a groan escaped from his chest. Thus perished the hunter, himself becoming prey, punished for crossing the sacred boundary.

Moral:

In the crypt, as in myths, curiosity without discipline is dangerous: venturing where you are unprepared and do not understand the rules, it is easy to turn from hunter into the victim of your own market.
