Spain plans to implement the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) fully by July 2026, establishing standardized rules for crypto issuance and marketing. Starting January 2026, Spain will also enforce the DAC8 directive, requiring crypto exchanges to report user transaction data to tax authorities. Additionally, the Banco de España is promoting the benefits of the digital Euro as part of the broader EU initiative to adopt a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
