The Battle of Chosin Reservoir, remember history! Remember Christmas!
In November 1950, U.S. Supreme Commander Douglas MacArthur declared:
"The soldiers will be home before Christmas"
On December 25:
The U.S. military's ace unit, the 1st Marine Division, fought while retreating in extreme cold (between -30 and -40℃)
The Volunteer Army continued to implement encirclement and night combat
Christmas in 1950,
While others waited for gifts,
Some were fighting desperately in the -40℃ snowfields.
On this day,
The U.S. military failed to "get home before Christmas,"
Instead, they faced a full retreat;
While the Volunteer Army used blood and lives,
To rewrite the course of the war at Chosin Reservoir.
Some holidays,
Are not for celebration,
But to remind us——
Today's stability has never been something that falls from the sky.
