Most of this behavior already fits comfortably on today’s internet. Messages are cheap. APIs respond quickly. Logs pile up quietly in the background.

Payments were designed for humans who hesitate, confirm, and regret. They were not designed for systems that make hundreds of tiny decisions in a minute. As soon as an agent needs to pay, autonomy usually stops. A human approves the transaction. A centralized platform aggregates usage and sends an invoice later. Or worse, a developer gives the agent full wallet access and hopes nothing goes wrong. None of these options scale. They either destroy the speed that makes agents useful or create risks that feel unacceptable.

Stablecoins fit naturally into this picture. Agents need predictable units. Volatile assets are hard to reason about when you are pricing millions of micro interactions. Stablecoins make it possible to express prices in terms that feel closer to real costs and real budgets. They allow the economy of agent activity to be measured and planned rather than guessed.
Identity returns again at the point where agents meet the outside world. A service provider needs to know that an agent is legitimate and accountable. A user does not want to expose their entire identity every time their agent performs a small action. Kite’s approach to passports and selective disclosure aims to balance this tension.
