On January 3, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto mined the first block of Bitcoin (Block 0), officially launching the Bitcoin network, so this day is recognized as Bitcoin's birthday. The Bitcoin white paper was published on October 31, 2008, before Satoshi mined the first block.
