Dubai bans private tokens and anonymous crypto services
The Dubai Financial Services Authority has imposed a ban on the use of confidential cryptocurrencies and anonymization tools at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The ban covers:
• private cryptocurrencies (privacy coins);
• transaction anonymization services;
• any activities involving them: trading, advertising, investment funds, derivatives.
The reason for the ban is non-compliance with AML and sanctions compliance requirements. Anonymous transactions prevent regulators from identifying the sender and recipient of funds, which contradicts international financial oversight standards.
📌 Important: This is another signal that major financial jurisdictions are betting on transparent crypto, not full anonymity.
Regulation is tightening — and this is the new reality of the market.
