š Vitalik Buterin Announces the Course for "Ethereum 2026": Back to Basics and No More Compromises
Ethereum co-founder made a bold statement: the era of concessions for "mass adoption" is over. Buterin acknowledged that over the past 10 years, the network has seen a serious regression in decentralization, and it's time to fix it.
What will change by 2026?
Buterin outlined key areas for returning to the status of the most "trustless" ecosystem:
š¹Ā Private Payments:Ā Improving transaction confidentiality.
š¹Ā Light Nodes:Ā Running a full node must be simple again to lower the entry barrier for average users.
š¹Ā Goodbye, Centralization:Ā Moving from "cumbersome giants" that store data on servers to fully autonomous applications.
š¹Ā Data Control & Security:Ā Improving social recovery of wallets without the risk of losing funds if a seed phrase is lost.
The Technological Foundation:
The main tools for this reboot will be theĀ KohakuĀ stack and the anticipatedĀ GlamsterdamĀ hard fork.
"We will no longer dilute our values," Buterin emphasized. The goal is to turn Ethereum into an ecosystem that deserves a much larger place in the universe than it currently holds.
šĀ Do you think focusing on decentralization will help ETH regain its former dominance over faster L1 networks?
