I’m writing about Walrus because storage is usually ignored until something important disappears. Walrus is a decentralized storage protocol designed for large data like videos, websites, and datasets, and it works by turning each file into many encoded fragments that are stored across independent providers. Instead of trusting one company to keep everything safe, the system relies on math and incentives so the data can be rebuilt even if some providers go offline. Sui is used to coordinate the process by recording the rules and proof that the data was stored correctly. When the data is needed again, Walrus collects enough fragments to restore it, and if some are missing, the network can repair itself. They’re trying to make data feel stable and dependable, so builders and users are not left wondering whether what they saved today will still exist tomorrow.
