Walrus simple file replication does not depend on it. Data is broken into fragments through erasure coding and stored on multiple nodes. This keeps the storage overhead low, and even if some nodes go offline, the data can still be reconstructed. For Web3, this approach creates a more practical and resilient storage layer.
