☄The Pentagon today updated the National Defense Strategy of the United States 2026

Key points:

🔴The main priority is the security of the United States

Protecting its territory, borders, and interests in the Western Hemisphere. Allies need to figure it out first; America will no longer carry everyone on its back.

🔴The main focus is the Indo-Pacific region and deterring China

China is number one in threats. Firm deterrence through strength, preparing for any scenarios around Taiwan, but without automatic war.

🔴Greenland is a strategic key

The United States must guarantee military and commercial access to Greenland. The Arctic is becoming an area of American control.

🔴Russia is labeled a "persistent threat" to NATO's eastern flank. However, it is emphasized that the threat is controlled and managed.

🔴Ukraine and Europe

The responsibility for defending Europe (including Ukraine) primarily rests with Europeans. The United States will help, but with significantly fewer troops and much more "burden sharing."

🔴Iran and North Korea

• Iran: nuclear weapons are unacceptable; the United States will not allow it.

• DPRK: nuclear forces are a direct and immediate threat, but the United States is shifting more responsibility to South Korea and Japan.
