There has been a significant change in the potential candidates for the Federal Reserve Chair. BlackRock executive Rick Rieder's chances have greatly increased, making him the leading candidate. President Trump may announce the final decision as early as next week.
On January 23, Bloomberg reported that insiders revealed Rieder has garnered Trump's attention due to his temperament aligning with that of the central bank's president, as well as a series of ideas for Federal Reserve reform. Previously, Trump stated that he had completed interviews with candidates and had found a suitable choice. He also mentioned that both Rieder and Kevin Walsh were good options. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin indicated that Trump may announce this decision as early as next week.
