Former U.S. President Bill Clinton called on Americans to publicly express their disagreement with the deportation policy of Donald Trump's administration against the backdrop of the death of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretty in Minneapolis. According to him, what happened should serve as a warning for the country, reports the publication Bild.

Clinton noted that the refusal of civil liberties, won over more than 250 years, could lead to their irrevocable loss.

Earlier, support for the protests was also expressed by former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. In a joint statement, they noted that the peaceful demonstrations in Minneapolis and other American cities remind us of the role of civic responsibility in a democratic society. According to them, the readiness of society to confront injustice, protect fundamental freedoms, and demand accountability from representatives of power depends on the participation of each citizen.

Current US President Donald Trump sharply criticized the protests. On the social network Truth Social, he published a photo of the alleged weapon of Alex Pretti and stated that the authorities of the state of Minnesota, in his opinion, contribute to the escalation of the unrest. Trump accused the city's mayor and the state governor of provocative rhetoric and emphasized the need to enable US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to perform their duties.
