So if this scenario is real, what will the consequences be?

▫️ US bonds and the USD are the foundation of the global financial system. US bonds are the safe haven for the world's assets and the USD is the dominant currency for transactions and reserves.

▫️ When these two things are sold off, it reflects a decline in confidence, not just short-term price volatility.

Where will the USD go?

Short term

▫️ The USD can fluctuate very strongly when the market panics → The USD can still increase because there is no complete alternative yet, but if countries actively withdraw from the USD → it will weaken

Medium & long term

▫️ The USD is hard to crash, but may gradually weaken and its role as the 'number 1 currency' is slowly eroded as the world seeks to hold more gold, make bilateral payments in other currencies, and reduce the proportion of US bonds.
