$158 BILLION SHOCKWAVE HITS CRYPTO
Illicit wallets saw a staggering $158 billion inflow in 2025. This is the highest in five years. A massive jump from $64.5 billion last year.
Russia-linked sanctions are driving this surge. Improved attribution techniques are now catching previously hidden illegal volumes. The A7A5 token alone received an estimated $72 billion. The A7 wallet cluster processed $39 billion.
This isn't just sanction evasion. It reflects economic activity aligned with national interests.
Despite record inflows, the percentage of illicit activity in crypto is actually shrinking. It dropped from 1.3% in 2024 to 1.2% in 2025. A sharp decline from the 2023 peak of 2.4%. This indicates a smaller share of new capital entering the ecosystem is tied to illicit actors.
