As part of the AI@HHMI initiative, the HHMI Institute (Howard Hughes Medical Institute) will collaborate with the company #Anthropic to accelerate discoveries in the biological sciences. The collaboration will take place at the Janelia research campus of the HHMI Institute, which has been developing revolutionary technologies for two decades – from genetically encoded calcium sensors to electron microscopes designed to study the architecture of the brain. This fund provides the HHMI Institute with unique opportunities to shape how artificial intelligence systems engage in the research process and enhance it.
This partnership could lay the foundation for the creation of an 'AI-biologist' that accelerates drug development and understanding of brain function by orders of magnitude!
And although a direct official partnership between Anthropic and #BIOProtocol has not been announced at this time, they are part of a larger global trend – the shift to DeSci (Decentralized Science) and the automation of science.
