Trump's close friend Steve Witkoff has been appointed as the Middle East envoy and is set to meet with Iranian officials. He was previously suspected of profiting $400,000 through insider trading by betting on Maduro's arrest.

On the prediction market Polymarket, the probability that 'Witkoff will meet with Iranian officials before February 28' is currently as high as 87%.

Steve Witkoff is one of the co-founders of WLFI, a company organized by Trump's eldest son Eric Trump, and is also a New York real estate developer who provided campaign funding to Trump. Their friendship spans nearly 40 years.

Previously, an insider account on Polymarket betting on 'Maduro's arrest' (which was heavily invested in just before the event, earning about $400,000) was revealed to be possibly linked to Witkoff.

Witkoff, appointed by Trump as the Middle East envoy, recently stated that he will meet with Iranian officials as soon as possible to discuss 'diplomatic solutions,' including a potential ceasefire, security guarantees, and easing sanctions in response to the escalation of Iranian protests and Trump's commitment to 'quickly end the conflict'.
