QE and QT — what are they and how do they affect the markets
Recently, the Federal Reserve announced that the QE (quantitative easing) phase is over, and QT (quantitative tapering) is beginning. I will try to explain what this means and what it could lead to in simple and accessible language.
QE is when the Central Bank was 'printing money' (increasing liquidity) and investing it in the economy.
1. Executive Order and Policy on Alternative Assets
On August 7, 2025, the president signed an executive order, which directs federal agencies to revise regulations so that alternative assets (private equity, real estate, and cryptocurrencies) can be included in 401(k) retirement plans and other plans protected by ERISA.
