Coinbase reports a massive $400 million loss in a single quarter: Are retail traders done, and is the exchange facing a downturn?
One of the largest compliant exchanges globally has just delivered its worst performance to date.
Coinbase's Q1 net loss stands at $394 million, with revenue plummeting 31% year-over-year to $1.41 billion, and trading income down 40%.
What does this mean?
A near $400 million loss in a single quarter translates to burning through $4.4 million a day.

The core reason: retail traders have exited the market.

But the issue is:
As things go on-chain, money is also flowing out.
Users are utilizing on-chain DEXs (Uniswap, PancakeSwap) and no longer need Coinbase.
