These platforms let users bet on real-world events — elections, policy decisions, even geopolitical moves — and senators are literally involved in shaping some of those outcomes. That creates a situation where someone could profit directly from information the public doesn’t have. The push for the ban, led by Bernie Moreno, comes after several controversial cases. One of the biggest involved a U.S. soldier accused of using confidential information to make large profits on a political prediction bet.
