Today, they have no competition other than perhaps XLM. But not even... XLM doesn't have as many followers as clients as Ripple does today, although its network seems to be more stable and functional..., it doesn't matter. Ripple went all in, BBVA, JP MORGAN, Japan... now after the trial, the USA opens up for them. Forget it... boom in the medium short term.
Whether the "whale x" buys or sells Ripple, the banks don't give a damn. XRP that is circulating, banks need it to pay low fees in their transfers. In other words, it's going to sell like hotcakes. They need supply on hand (for their clients!!) so at a low price, the business is a hassle.
