2. The Bridge: The Use of the P2P Merchant
This is where the scammer becomes invisible. Instead of giving their own bank account or phone number:
They go to a platform (Binance, Bybit, etc.) and place a buy order for crypto for $100.
They retrieve the payment details (Mobile Money or transfer) from a legitimate merchant on the platform.
They send these details to their victim.
3. The Crime: The Victim Pays the Scammer
The victim makes the transfer in good faith, thinking they are paying for access to the VIP group.
The scammer receives the proof of payment from the victim and immediately forwards it to the merchant on the crypto platform.
The merchant, seeing the money arrive in their account, releases the crypto.
