Losses happen to everyone not checking news or volatility. Entering right before a major data release, already violated your risk or strategy rules before the trade is live. You’re trading on emotion not edge. You are entering with a 2:1 reward but only a 30% win rate. There is no clear setup.The trade has a negative expected value from the start. Do The Checklist Test Before any live trade. Set five(5) questions and always require yourself to answer before every live trade . Below are my examples before executing any trade .
· Does this match my written setup (e.g., double bottom, pullback to 20 EMA)?
· Is the higher timeframe aligned?
· Is my risk ≤1% of account?
· Is there a major news event in next 30 min?
· Did I wait for a confirmation candle?
If you fail to check even one, you “lose before entry” – so mark it down in a journal.
