50M USDT Lost in a Flash After Address Poisoning Scam Hits Crypto User.

A crypto user mistakenly sent 49,999,950 USDT to a scammer after copying a poisoned wallet address from their transaction history - turning what looked like a normal transfer into one of 2025’s biggest on-chain losses. The scam exploited how wallets truncate addresses, tricking the victim into pasting a look-alike address with the same start/end characters.

After the theft, the attacker quickly converted the USDT to ETH and moved funds through multiple wallets and Tornado Cash to obscure the trail.
