Grayscale: Tokenizing assets could grow 1,000 times by 2030

Real asset tokenization (RWA) is approaching a critical juncture as adoption by financial institutions accelerates. According to Grayscale, this sector has the potential to scale up 1,000 times by 2030 and become a core component of the global capital market.

In its Digital Asset Outlook 2026 report, Grayscale noted that tokenization has entered a "turning point," with both the technological infrastructure and the legal framework gradually becoming complete. While currently modest in scale, the low proportion of tokenized assets in the global stock and bond markets reflects the early stages of adoption, rather than the limit of its potential. Increasingly, organizations view issuing, settling, and managing assets directly on the blockchain as a long-term strategy.

Grayscale argues that the growth of tokenization not only adds value to the underlying blockchains but also drives the ecosystem of applications, data, and supporting infrastructure layers. Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Solana are currently leading networks due to their high liquidity and stability, although this order may change over time.

Furthermore, Chainlink is considered to be in a favorable position due to its role in connecting data and infrastructure for institutional-scale tokenization applications. Overall, Grayscale views tokenization as a practical application of blockchain, aligning with the needs of large financial institutions to optimize costs, increase operational efficiency, and expand access to assets.
