PlusToken钱包传销诈骗案是国内首起以比特币等数字货币为交易媒介的特大跨国网络传销案。

2018年5月，陈某等人搭建起PlusToken平台并开发相关应用，还刻意包装平台形象——雇外籍留学生冒充创始人，打造“国际平台”假象，同时借“区块链”噱头，谎称能靠虚拟货币智能套利实现增值。

平台设置了静态、动态及高管收益三类奖励来吸引并绑定投资者。静态收益以投入金额为依据，承诺每月6%-18%返利；动态收益靠拉人头获取，能赚第一层下线静态收益的100%，还能拿第二至十层下线静态收益的10%；此外按发展下线数量和资金，将成员分为五个等级，不同等级可获对应高管佣金奖励。投资者需缴纳价值500美元以上的主流虚拟货币入会，返利均以平台自创的无实际价值的Plus币结算。

该平台靠线上宣传和线下推广会等方式，短短一年多就席卷全球100多个国家和地区，发展会员超200万人，层级关系最多达3000余层，累计收取的虚拟货币按案发时行情折合人民币超500亿元，大部分用于返利和团伙成员挥霍。

2019年平台因无实质经营支撑，资金链难以为继，且提现需人工审核，后期逐渐无法兑现。江苏盐城警方年初发现线索后成立专案组，同年6月赴多国抓获27名主要境外嫌疑人，2020年又抓获82名骨干成员。

法院以组织、领导传销活动罪判处陈某等16名被告人2年至11年不等有期徒刑，主犯陈某获刑11年并处罚金600万元。案发后警方查扣大量比特币、以太坊等虚拟货币，部分变现后作为退赃款处理，不过仍有不少投资者的损失未能全额追回。
