Monthly close is coming up and so far May is still on track to close green.
If BTC manages to close above $76.3k, this would mark three consecutive green monthly candles in a row.
What makes this interesting is that this is something that has never happened during a bear market before.
While this doesn’t automatically mean that the bear market is over, it definitely shows that current price action is behaving differently from what we’ve historically seen during prolonged bear markets.
With that said, we still have a few days left until the monthly close, so this will definitely be an important level to watch.

After a clean breakdown and retest of the previous support zone, BTC has now formed a new LTF range.
The range low lines up with the monthly open and continues to get defended well by buyers for now.
However, I still believe that a sweep lower into the $75k region remains possible, especially with the unswept lows still sitting below.
But for now, price remains range bound until we get a confirmed breakout in either direction.

While price pushed higher aggressively, spot demand also increased significantly, which means this move was backed by real buying pressure rather than just leverage.
At the same time, open interest has started to cool off after trending higher for days, reducing the amount of excessive leverage in the market.
Meanwhile, the funding rate has flipped from positive into negative territory right as price continues moving higher.
This suggests that shorts are becoming aggressive again while the market is still showing strength.
Overall, the current move looks much healthier as the market has started to deleverage while demand continues to come from the spot side.

Price swept the previous low at $79.1k and found acceptance back above it immediately.
If today’s daily candle manages to close back above the grey box, there’s a good chance this move was nothing more than a liquidity grab.
As long as BTC continues to hold above the $79.5k area, another sweep of the highs remains likely.
This is exactly the scenario I pointed out yesterday.
