Coin $ZEC , a leading privacy crypto on Binance, plummeted from $629 to under $300 in less than 24 hours! The reason? A serious vulnerability in the Orchard privacy protocol that has been around for a full 4 years, which could theoretically allow the creation of undetectable fake ZEC coins on chain.
The worst part? As it's a privacy system, there's no way to prove that the vulnerability wasn't exploited in the past. This prompted Arthur Hayes (founder of BitMEX) to dump all his ZEC holdings immediately after being one of its biggest supporters.
