#PuedeBTCllegaravale0 Can bitcoins ever be worth nothing?
Yes. History is filled with currencies that have failed and are no longer used, like the German Mark during the Weimar Republic and, more recently, the Zimbabwean Dollar. While the failure of these past currencies was due to hyperinflation, which is impossible with Bitcoin, the potential for technical failures, competition among coins, political issues, etc., always exists. As a basic rule of thumb, no currency should be considered immune to failures or tough times.
Bitcoin has proven to be reliable for years since its inception and has a tremendous potential to keep growing. Still, no one can predict what its future holds.
Will Bitcoin fall into a deflationary spiral?
The deflationary spiral theory boils down to the idea that if prices are expected to drop, consumers will postpone purchases to take advantage of lower prices. This drop in demand will force sellers to lower their prices in an attempt to stimulate demand, thereby feeding back into the phenomenon and ultimately leading to an economic depression.
What if someone creates a better digital coin?
That could happen. For now, Bitcoin remains by far the most popular decentralized virtual currency, but there are no guarantees it will maintain that position in the future. There is currently a set of alternative coins inspired by Bitcoin. However, one could assume that significant improvements would be necessary for a new coin to surpass Bitcoin in terms of an established market, although this aspect is unpredictable. It's also possible that Bitcoin will adopt improvements from other coins as long as they don't alter fundamental parts of the protocol.
