#walletconnect Here’s what I found about WCT (WalletConnect Token): What is WCT? WCT is the native token of the WalletConnect Network — a protocol and infrastructure layer that enables secure connections between wallets and decentralized applications (dApps) across blockchains. The token serves several roles: governance, staking, rewards, and potentially as a medium for fees within the WalletConnect ecosystem. Tokenomics & Transferability Total supply: 1,000,000,000 WCT Before April 15, 2025, WCT was non‑transferable — you could not freely move it between wallets or exchanges. As of April 15, 2025, WCT became fully transferable via a governance decision. Allocation and vesting: • Some percentage is allocated to the foundation, team, rewards, airdrops, backers, and core development. • Tokens allocated to team, backers, etc., are subject to vesting (often with cliffs) to ensure long‑term incentives. Uses & Utility Staking: Holders can stake WCT to participate in network operations and earn rewards. Governance: Token holders can vote on proposals affecting the development, fee structure, and features of the WalletConnect Network. Rewards/Incentives: WCT is distributed as rewards for network participants (e.g. node operators, wallet providers) to maintain performance and decentralization. Fee Mechanism (future): Although at launch the network does not charge fees, there is a plan that dApps / SDKs might pay fees in WCT in the future. Price & Market Data Current price (USD): ~ $0.2474 On CoinMarketCap: ~ $0.2561, circulating supply ~ 186.2 million WCT out of 1 billion total.
